If the spots are loose stool, then yes, it could be diarrhea from a change in diet.

This article is overdue because it is not an every day subject. Removal of the anal sacs is a delicate and specialized surgery. The dog had enough inflammation that he was uncomfortable, so you took him in. I realize I probably wont be getting an immediate response here, but worse case it will provide advice for others in the future! The pain medication is certainly a good idea, as this has GOT to hurt.
